The country is bordered by the refreshing waves of the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the deserts of Algeria to the east, and Western Sahara to the south. ClimateMorocco's climate is quite varied due to the diverse geography found within the country's boarders. Northern coastal regions are generally mild, and often cool and wet, with temperature averages ranging in the 50's from December to March, into the upper 70's during summer months. The mid-Atlantic coast holds an agreeable temperature year-round, cooled by sea breezes. The southern Atlantic coast is more arid. Inland temperatures will reach much higher, easily exceeding 100 degrees during summer months. Despite these hot day-time temperatures, nights can get quite cold. During winter months, mountain temperatures will reach extreme lows of below zero, often dumping impenetrable amounts of snow on mountain passes.
With a highly regarded presence throughout the Iberian Peninsula, International Studies Abroad has established solid contacts in Morocco leading ISA to open its first study abroad program on the African continent. With the world at need for a better understanding of this region, students will gain valuable cultural and linguistic experiences as they study abroad in the picturesque city of Meknès. Morocco is composed of great geographic diversity allowing students to explore the beautiful Atlas Mountains, sandy beaches, and majestic desert terrain. Additionally, students will take witness to the visible impressions that have been left on the architecture and lifestyles of this country, as a result of its active history and close proximity to Europe. | |||||||||||||||
