What is the ISA Global Ambassador Program (GAP)?

The GAP is designed to encourage your involvement in international education, by providing you outreach opportunities right on your home campus. As an ISA Global Ambassador, you would be working in conjunction with the study abroad office on your campus in whatever capacity you and they see fit. You would also arrange promotional activities on campus, as well as assist the ISA Regional Representatives during their campus visits. ISA would send you a Global Ambassador Packet as well as other ISA materials, including catalogs, to be used for promotional activities on campus. We would also encourage you to be creative in developing strategies that would be effective on your home campus.

What's In It For You?

You might be asking yourself, “What’s in it for me?” In addition to building your resume and gaining valuable experience, ISA will provide a year’s subscription to Glimpse Magazine to all Global Ambassadors, and will also be happy to serve as a reference, and write and a letter of recommendation, for alumni who are active in the program. Glimpse is a publication that provides forums for sharing the experiences of young adults living and studying abroad. Additionally, three Global Ambassadors will be invited to participate in a summer internship in the ISA office in the city where they studied! The internship will be unpaid, but ISA will cover airfare, room and board. The three Global Ambassadors will be chosen based on the level of involvement in the program, advisor feedback, the need of the offices abroad, and the Resident Director’s recommendation about the individual’s ability to perform in the office. If selected, you would be working along-side your former Resident Directors and spend the summer in the city that you explored as a student.

If you are interested in becoming an ISA Global Ambassador, please click here to download the PDF. The application has a study abroad verification section that needs to be completed by a study abroad advisor from your home university. You must have this section completed in order to participate in the program. If your home university does not think it is appropriate to have ISA Global Ambassadors on campus, you will not be eligible to participate. The Alumni Coordinator will review your application and follow-up accordingly. ISA Global Ambassadors will be asked to submit reports to the Alumni Coordinator. All report forms must be submitted by April 1st to be considered when deciding the internship recipients. The internship recipients will be announced by May 1st.

If you have questions about the program, please contact the ISA Alumni Coordinator at alumni@studiesabroad.com.
