    Main Outcomes

    • On completion of this module, students should be able to:
    • Explain how the socio-historical and the socio-political  contexts of the early Christians influenced the writing of the Gospels and Acts.
    • Discuss the genres found in the Gospels and Acts.
    • Discuss the Synoptic question and the difference between the Synoptics and the Johannine literature.
    • Identify and discuss the theological thrust of each of the Gospels and the Book of Acts.

    • The Synoptic question
    • Typical features and theology of individual Synoptic Gospels
    • The Gospel of John: Its distinctive features and theology
    • The Book of Acts and its connection with Luke

    Not all of the Synoptics will necessarily be dealt with each year.
