Main Outcomes
- On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Explain how the socio-historical and the socio-political contexts of the early Christians influenced the writing of the Gospels and Acts.
- Discuss the genres found in the Gospels and Acts.
- Discuss the Synoptic question and the difference between the Synoptics and the Johannine literature.
- Identify and discuss the theological thrust of each of the Gospels and the Book of Acts.
Main Content- The Synoptic question
- Typical features and theology of individual Synoptic Gospels
- The Gospel of John: Its distinctive features and theology
- The Book of Acts and its connection with Luke
Not all of the Synoptics will necessarily be dealt with each year.
