SYLLABUS

Objectives

This course introduces students to the field of international trade and trade policy. For this purpose, students learn about global trade environment and international trade negotiations. The course takes perspective of a developing economy and takes into account the characteristics of Latin American and Peruvian economies in order to assess their role in the world labor division.

The purpose is to explain how economic theory and policy analysis can help us to understand the economic opportunities and challenges Peru and other Latin American economies will face in the future. Participation of government officials and policymakers will enrich classes with their field experience.

Also covered are topics on databases and methodological tools to identify trade opportunities.
