Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish at their home university in the U.S.

The eighties. The conservative order: height and crisis. The centennial Argentina: the electoral reform and its consequences. Ascent of the Radical party. The crisis of the ´30s.
Economic, political, and social impacts. The internal migrations and social transformation. Army and politics: the conservative restoration. The origins of Peronism. The raid of the masses in the political arena of Argentina. Unions and Peronism. The model of insertion in the international system. The political polarization and the crisis of '55. The civilian and military pendulum: democratic governments versus military governments. The process of national re-organization: boom and crisis. The war of the Falklands and its consequences. The transition to democracy. The Radical Civic Union and the leadership "alfonsinista". Reintegration in the international system. The problem of external debt. Government opposition.
