Due to the arid climate, the stars are incredibly clear and beautiful, making this a home to two important observatories. ISA students will visit the Observatorio Astronómico del Cerro Tololo, home to one of the largest telescopes in South America. The trip through the Valle del Elqui also includes visits to Monte Grande, birthplace of Nobel poet Gabriela Mistral; to Vicuña, which houses Mistral’s museum and library; and to the largest pisco factory in Chile.
