OBJECTIVE
1. - To identify and know the main ecological geographic areas in Chile.
2. - To understand the close relations between geographic landscape and national wild life.
3. - To evaluate geoecological impact caused by man action and his technology.
4. - To promote respect for natural environment, its resources and preservation.
CONTENTS SYNTHESIS
Analysis of the geoecological areas with a special emphasis in wild life aspects and national ecosystems. This course tends to motivate respect for natural life in our country.
CONTENTS
Unit 1: Presentation of the Territory
Tricontinental Chile â€" Dimensions â€" More relevant aspects of its geomorphology, climatology, oceanography and hydrography. Basic Knowledge of Paleogeography of Chile.
Unit 2: Ecogeographic Areas of Chile
Basic Knowledge of Ecology, national bio geographic areas: xenomorphic, mesomorphic and hygromorphic. Geoecologic aspects of every area, flora and fauna. Paleobiogeography. Endemism insular, etc.
Unit 3: Economic Aspects
National Fishing resources. Exploitation scales; ports: port-cities, first, second and third generation ports, state ports and private ports; maritime transportation and national coasting trade.
Unit 4: Environmental Aspect
Legislation and its environmental problems related directly or indirectly to Chilean Sea.
