Intermediate
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of two semesters (or three quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

General Objective of the course section:

To develop the linguistic competence of the student by ways of lecture, the determination of grammatical structures, the analysis of texts, by using situations of cultural means that involves the student in various cognitive aspects.

Specific Objectives:

1. To develop linguistic skills related to spoken Spanish in formal and informal contexts. The student will recognize the basic structures of spoken Spanish in each context.

2. The student will be able to start and maintain conversations related to diverse cultural themes.

Contents of the Course section:

Review of the various structures by means of lectures:

a. Sentence structure: nouns, adjectives, articles, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, prepositions (para, por), conjunctions, interjections.

b. Verbs: ser/haber and haber or tener

c. Verb tense: present, progressive present, past, future

d. Modes: indicative, subjunctive, imperative

e. Connectives

f. Conditionals
