This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

This course is especially for the students of the ISA Summer Program and it presents an overview of Chilean and Latin American Literature.

Course Contents:

1. The problem of cultural identity of Latin America.

2. Contemporaneity in Latin American Literature.

3. The Latin American boom of writers.

4. The 50's generation in Chile.

5. Contemporary Chilean lyrics.

6. The Chilean narrative after the coup d'état.

7. The feminist narrative in Chile.
