If your academic program in Chile is less than 90 days, you are not required to obtain a student visa.

If your academic program in Chile is more than 90 days, you are required to obtain a student visa.

Summer/intensive month students will enter the country on a tourist visa which you will get upon arrival to the airport in Santiago. The tourist visa is a stamp in your passport which is good for no more than 90 days. NOTE: Getting the tourist visa stamp costs $131, payable at the airport in Santiago by cash or credit card.

Semester students should get their visa in the U.S. before departing for Chile. ISA will provide you with some of the necessary documents to obtain the visa, but you will be responsible for obtaining a medical clearance from your doctor as well as a criminal background check to provide for the consulate. If you are having trouble getting the visa, or do not live near a consulate, please contact the ISA office immediately!

Please note that you may be required to appear in person at the consulate in order to apply for the visa. Contact the consulate nearest you for the most specific and current information and to request a visa application. Once enrolled in the program, ISA will provide more details regarding the visa process.

Note: Embassy and consulate contact information is subject to change without notice. Please refer to the website of the embassy or consulate to verify information.
