Housing Information

ISA Housing provides the opportunity for students to experience aspects of the Chinese lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor of Shanghai. Semeter students will have the advantage of living either on the East China Normal University campus or in the apartment, which is closed located to the campus and conveniently near public transit routes accessible to all parts of the city. Summer students might be placed in nearby hotels. The experience of living in another culture will be both educational and rewarding so long as you stay open-minded and reasonable at all times. There are differences in culture and lifestyle between life in China and the U.S. Remember: the key to a positive experience is flexibility. With this in mind, you can have an amazing stay in Shanghai! Please note: All housing is subject to availibility.

ISA Apartments (summer and semester)
Rent is included in the program price. Students are placed in furnished, centrally located apartments. Bedrooms are single and double occupancy and apartments have 2 bedrooms, lounge/living room, kitchen and bathroom(s). Each apartment is equipped with basic furnishings and supplies, including one single bed (per student), a closet/clothing storage space, basic cookware and kitchenware, laundry facility in house, a table and chairs and furnished sitting area. Bed linens and towels are provided.

All apartments are same-sex, non-smoking environments. A $400 refundable apartment deposit is required.

Hotels (summer only)
Students in summer program might stay in the hotels. In each room of the hotel, you will have two single beds for double rooms, and one single bed for single rooms. Linens and towels are provided. There is a private bathroom in each room, also a table and two chairs are available to use. Overnight guests are not allowed for ISA students.

A $400 deposit is due after being accepted to the program. This deposit is refundable if no damage is done to the hotels.

Dorms (semester only)
Participants will stay in East China Normal University's dormitory for international students. ISA students will be roomed with fellow ISA students in double occupancy rooms which include an internet connection, air conditioning, bedding, and maid service. Each room has a private bathroom with shower, and is located near the center of campus. Public kitchens and laundry facilities are located in the building.

A $400 deposit is due after being accepted to the program. This deposit is refundable if no damage is done to the dorms.

Independent Housing (semester and summer)
Students may opt to secure housing independently. Students who select this option receive a discount equal to the housing portion of the program price.
