Founded in 1985, the Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica (UICR) is now considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in Costa Rica. The school’s undergraduate and graduate programs were fully accredited in 1990. Today, the school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees covering a wide area of practical sciences, education, and business related fields. The UICR has its primary campus in the city of Heredia, locally known as the city of flowers. This central campus is conveniently located along the main bus lines going into and out of Heredia from the capital city, San José. The UICR also has a metropolitan campus in the Capital City of San José, located 15-30 minutes by bus or car away from the central campus in Heredia. The metropolitan campus is located in the 11th story of the country’s most modern building, the Mercedes Tower.

The UICR strives to make education accessible to both the traditional full-time student and the non-traditional working student. Generous scholarship and finance programs make undergraduate education easily available to most motivated students. The university’s enrollment is currently growing at a rate of about twenty percent a year, a formidable testimony of the school’s value and quality.
