The semester program is offered at the Latin American University of Science and Technology (ULACIT). The program offers courses at the intermediate and advanced level. Under the semester program, students select four courses from the following categories: Classes with Costa Ricans, General Electives (with ISA students) or Spanish Language Modules (with ISA students). Depending on your language level, you may select any combination of courses to complete your four choices. Students taking advanced level courses may take all 4 courses with Costa Ricans.

Eligibility

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

Students must have a minimum prerequisite of two semesters (3 quarters) if they will be taking the intermediate level classes with ISA students and a minimum of five semesters (7-8 quarters) if they are taking the advance level classes with the locals. Advance students may take all classes with the locals or they may take choose a mix of classes with locals and classes with ISA students, or all classes with ISA students.

For intermediate, and advanced-level Spanish speakers. Students must have a 2.5 GPA. Students who arrive in Costa Rica having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely take intermediate-level courses. Students who arrive in Costa Rica having completed two years or more of college-level Spanish will likely take advanced-level courses or Classes with Costa Ricans.
