SummerMedical Spanish & Health Care in Costa Rica - Veritas UniversityThis program is designed for students at all levels of the Spanish language who wish to increase their Spanish proficiency with particular focus on health care and medical terminology. During this 5 week program students will participate in an 80 hour intensive Spanish for Health Professionals course which combines classroom work with hands-on communication experience. Students will also complete a 60 hour elective, called the Costa Rican Health Care System, which explores the the strengths and weaknesses of the country's socialized health care system and examines the specific health concerns of Costa Rica as a tropical country. Language courses are held in the morning, and the elective course is held in the afternoon. Please note that students who wish to take ONLY the 80 hour Spanish for Health Professionals course should enroll in the ISA Summer 4 program. EligibilityMinimum GPA Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50. Minimum Admissions Prerequisites There is no language prerequisite for this program. Applicants must be studying a health related profession such as pre-med, nursing, pharmacy or biology.
