This program is designed for students at all levels of the Spanish language who wish to increase their Spanish proficiency with particular focus on health care and medical terminology. During this 5-week program students will participate in an 80-hour intensive Spanish for Health Professionals language course which combines class work with hands-on communication experience. Students will also complete a 48 to 60-hour Health Care Elective course. Language courses are held in the morning and elective courses in the afternoon. There will be afternoon and weekend field trips associated with some of the Health Care Elective courses.

Please note that students who wish to take ONLY the 80 hour Spanish for Health Professionals course should enroll in the ISA Summer 4 program.

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

Health courses are focused on professionals and students in this field. As a minimum requirement, applicants must have previous course work in: pre-med, nursing, pharmacy, biology and other health- related studies.

*Students will take a placement exam prior to departure to determine the Spanish language level: basic, intermediate, or advanced.
