Paulo Aguilar

Academic Resident Director for Veritas Programs in San José, Costa Rica

Paulo Aguilar is a Hispanic American literature professor. He earned his MA at the University of Tennessee where he taught Spanish as a second language. Teaching Spanish to Americans gave him the opportunity to share Latin-American culture. When he returned to Costa Rica in 2004, Paulo Aguilar continued teaching Spanish at the University of Costa Rica. With his talents in the arts, his background in journalism, and his experience as a literature and language professor, Paulo makes an ideal ISA coordinator.

In addition to his role as a teacher, Paulo is an arts-journalist and his passion has given him the opportunity to travel to other countries, sharing with other artists. He also directed several reading-writing clubs. Paulo worked as the co-director of the “Taller Cultural Francisco Zuñiga Diaz” for several years. His role was to encourage new writers and help them with creative writing. During that time he also created several art magazines and formed a poetry reading club. Paulo currently works at the Latin University of Costa Rica as the Director of Creative Writing Workshops. He is also currently studying to complete a degree in Psychology!
