Vienna (Semester/Year only) Location: AustriaSemester & year students take a multi-day excursion to Vienna which includes traveling to Moravia, a region of the Czech Republic—one of the most culturally rich excursions offered! Vienna is a city with rich culture, full of museums, galleries and concert halls and great shopping. Students will explore the downtown of Vienna with ISA, and visit the main St. Stephansdom cathedral to enjoy its great view of the city. Fall students have the chance to visit the famous Christmas market, considered by many to be the most beautiful in Europe. Students may have time to visit a typical Viennese café to enjoy an apple strudel, chat with locals and watch the mist glistening off the Danube River. When visiting Vienna, students get to discover forgotten side streets and find themselves in Hotel Sacher, Europe's famed watering hole where aristocrats and diplomats met to discuss politics and eat the hotel's sachertorte - a dry chocolate cake with apricot jam. Schonbrunn Palace is another city highlight from which you can see striking architectural beauty of Vienna and see how the structure of the buildings reflects the city's history. Residences like Hofburg and Schonbrunn, witnesses of the story of Franz Joseph and Sissi, offer an insight into the history of the famous Habsburg dynasty—students can see first-hand how emperors used to live.
