Region and Population

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and its largest city, with about 2 million people residing in the greater city limits. The Czech Republic is divided into thirteen regions, plus the capital city.

Climate

Prague has a temperate climate, with cold winters and hot summers. Rain is common during the summer months and helps keep Prague from overheating. Winter routinely brings light accumulations of snow to the streets, providing residents and visitors with picturesque street scenes. September brings autumn, when the trees are filled with leaves of beautiful colors.

Keep in mind that although actual temperatures in the summer are mild, the heat index for Prague is, and feels, much warmer.
