DESCRIPTION
In this course, the situation of women in the Hispanic Caribbean will be analyzed from the perspective of human development.
For some of the topics covered in this class, there will be a comparative analysis of the situation of women in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. The variables of health, education, work, politics, and art will be reviewed as well, in view of these aspects' level of development in the respective countries.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
1. Analyze comparatively the different variables associated with gender in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
2. Analyze critically the current research related to gender in the Spanish Caribbean.
3. Compare the indicators of human development in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, and visualize those elements that affect the differences.

Note: The evaluation proposed here may change since it will be defined based on the methodology used, that is, if the class follows a seminar format with a course coordinator, then the professor should define the criteria of evaluation.
