ReadingAcademic Year:Undergraduate CoursesYear 2008/09 (Sep 26, 2008 to Jun 27, 2009) Hours & Credits Total:450 - 540 Hours of Instruction30 - 36 Semester Credits45 - 54 Quarter UnitsNotes regarding credits...The required load to retain a full-time status at the University of Reading is 20 ECTS per term, and Study Abroad students are not allowed to take more than 20 ECTS per term. It is the number of credit points at the University of Reading which determines a full-time load, not the number of classes. The system for hours of instruction is not the same as in the US, but students typically earn 10-12 semester hours or 15-18 quarter units per term. It is crucial that students meet with their US university in advance, to discuss how credits will transfer and what is required for full-time status at the home university.
