Note: A placement exam will be required when you arrive on site.

High Beginning
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of one semester (or two quarters) of college-level French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

Objectives:
To improve written skills, starting with simple phrases and progressing towards more complex phrases and texts.

Contents:
1. Study the relation between what one hears and what one writes: analyze the organization of grammar and vocabulary.
2. Study of the logic of written speech.
3. According to student's level, practice various spelling and writing exercises: essays, rewrites of texts, letters, descriptions, narrations, and dissertations.

(Note that the level "high beginning" on ISA's website is equivalent to "elementary" at the Catholic University of Paris.)
