Students may focus on French language as well as culture and civilization topics including art, theater, literature, communications, history, and culture. The majority of courses are taught in French, with select culture and civilization courses taught in English. Classmates are international and American students, and courses are taught by host university faculty. The majority of students taking courses in English will be North American. Students who have not completed one semester/quarter of college-level French or the equivalent must choose French language as one of their courses. All students must take a two part French language placement exam, one portion before departure for the program and the other upon arrival in Paris. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Please use the following only as a guideline to determine what each student's language level may be. Each semester/quarter is of COLLEGE-LEVEL French or the equivalent of: True Beginning (Débutant) = 0 Semesters/0-2 Quarters Please note that a student's French language level in France is based on the standards of the French university. *Students may add the September Intensive Month as a preface to this program. Please see the September Intensive Month program for details. Fall 2A is a shortened semester of 11 weeks designed to cater to the American semester system. This program has slightly different course requirements to maintain full-time enrollment.
