High Intermediate
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of three semesters (or five quarters) of college-level French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.
Advanced and Above
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

This course analyzes the major economic and social problems of contemporary France, underlining their significance and manifestation in geography. Three different angles of approach will be used:
-A study of the population, explaining demographic structures, the socio-economic characteristics and geographic distributions
-A study of economic activities, appreciated through the frame of the European Economic Community and of the global economic system, reproduced in sectors and in their real context
-A study of the organization of spaces, in their lasting concept and their recent transformations.
