High Beginning
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of one semester (or two quarters) of college-level French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

"Know the cultural facts of France and understand the French society across the medias"

Objective-
-Familiarize with the medias
-Understand and analize the written and audiovisual press
-Work on oral and written competence
-Study the French of everyday

Program-
-Discover the written press: the structure of newspapers, its function, their content
-Compare different medias (written and audiovisual)
-Compare the medias of France to your home country
-Produce short articles and press reviews
-Analize the current events and subjects that provoke debate in France

Grading-
-Homework
-Two test/quizzes
-One short presentation followed by discussion
-Attendance
-Contribution to the paper, Bric-a-Brac highly recommended
