Note: A placement exam will be required when you arrive on site.

High Beginning
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of one semester (or two quarters) of college-level French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

Objective:
You live in Paris. You want to understand the city, and live like a real Parisian.

Program:

Learn the history of Paris
Discover various "quartiers" (neighborhoods), their monuments and their characteristics

Grading:

1. Individual work and preparation before each course
2. Report/project on one of the major symbolic places in Paris
3. 3 grades per semester

Educational resources: Maps of Paris, documents about Paris, audio and visual resources (songs, videos, etc.), and visits to some of the city's quarters, monuments, and museums

(Note that the level "high beginning" on ISA's website is equivalent to "elementary" at the Catholic University of Paris)
