Objectives:
For each century, students will do a comparative study of:
- writers (simple texts, poetry, and prose)
- painters (viewing works of art)
- musicians (listening to musical excerpts)
For each artist, by way of audio or visual support, a study will be conducted on vocabulary, syntax, ideas, and historical/biographical elements.

16th Century: Ronsard, Montaigne, Clouet, Fontainebleau school, Renaissance music
17th Century: Molière, Mme de Sévigné, La Fontaine, Champaigne, Mignard, La Tour, Charpentier, Lully, Couperin
18th Century: Montesquieu, Voltaire, Rousseau, Watteau, Fragonard, Greuze, Rameau, Mozart, Gluck
19th Century: Victor Hugo, Musset, George Sand, Delacroix, Ingres, Manet, Berlioz, Saint Saens, Offenbach, Gounod
20th Century: Prévert, Ionesco, Matisse, Picasso, Ravel, Satie
Grading: 2 written exams, group work, oral participation
