Intermediate
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of two semesters (or three quarters) of college-level French. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

Objectives:
-Become familiar with France during this epoch from different angles so as to be able to tackle more specific disciplines
-Acquire a historical vocabulary

Program:
-The feudal society (13th-15th centuries) from Philippe Auguste to Charles VII
-Toward a State-Nation (15th-18th centuries) from Louis XI to Louis XVI
-Revolutions, republics, and industrial capitalism (1789-1900)
