This course includes a practical study of the French language. The course covers fundamentals and is designed to equip students with the tools for everyday use of French.
The course aims to give the basic and necessary language competency in tackling a range in the following grammatical elements:
High Intermediate
-Personal pronouns (except the neuter pronoun)
-Relative pronouns: who, what, where
-Indefinite adjectives and pronouns: someone, no one, something, nothing, some, all (adjective and pronoun), other, none, same, several
-Possessive and demonstrative adjectives
-Comparatives and superlatives
-The present indicative, the past tense, the future, the immediate future in a present text, the recent past in a present text, the imperfect, the imperative, the gerundive
-Completive subordinate clauses (that + indicative), time (when), cause (because)
-The pronominal form
-Phonetics*
*20 hours of instruction for this course take place in a phonetics lab
Superior
-Revision and perfection of prior knowledge, learning of the subjunctive
-Putting complete sentences in place
-Extracts from literary texts, revising grammatical points and vocabulary
-Exercises in oral comprehension (lecturing out loud by the professor and written questions) and oral expression from literary documents and various medias
-Essays on society and personal experience
-Phonetics*
