Overview

A continuation of the introduction to the Italian language in the context of Italian culture. This course is designed to develop students’ ability to communicate in Italian in everyday situations and to enable them to understand and express their opinions on familiar topics. Grammar structures are used and reinforced through the analysis of sentences in their real context. It includes the use and practice of past, imperfect, imperative, future and conditional tenses of regular and irregular verbs, reflexive and reciprocal verbs, direct and indirect pronouns and the use of impersonal forms.
Practice will take place in all four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

According to The Council of Europe on The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for languages, students in this class should acquire the following skills:

-To understand the main points of speech on familiar matters
-To understand texts that consist of highly frequently used everyday words
-To describe experiences and events, aspirations and ambitions
-Write personal letters and text on topics of personal interest
