Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish at their home university in the U.S.

METHODOLOGY

The methodology applied at the Language Center by the Department of Spanish includes various techniques:

Communicative (emphasizing interaction in communication)
Situational (students acquire the necessary tools to react comfortably to daily
circumstances)
Personalized instruction
Independent learning (students interact directly with the language and learn at their
own pace, organizing and applying concepts)

PROGRAM

I. Review of indicative mood
Simple tenses: present, preterite, imperfect, conditional, future
Compound tenses: present perfect, past perfect, conditional perfect, future perfect

II. Other verb uses
Imperative: affirmative, negative
Conditional: simple, compound
Subjunctive: present, past, present perfect, past perfect, infinitive

III. Analogy
articles, nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, pronouns, interjections

IV. Orthography
use of letters, accentuation rules

V. Syntax
regular syntax, diction
