Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish at their home university in the U.S.

Overview

The main objective of this class is to introduce the student to the general principals of painting including materials, application of paint, and the fundamentals of color. Students will also have the opportunity to do personal painting projects on topics of their choice.
The following topics will be discussed:
1. The rough sketch and painting preparation such as stands and specific painting techniques.
2. The application of color: apply the basic understandings of color in paitning assignemnets.
Primary, secondary, and tertiary colors as well as complementary colors.
3. Monochromy: Painting in black and white and the color combinations derived from these
two colors.
4. The composition: discuss different aspects of artistic representation ans style such as three-
dimensional forms, texture, perspective, and spatial effects.
