This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Objetivos generales:

Al finalizar el curso el alumno será capaz de:

• Explicar a la educación como una práctica social.
• Situar a la educación en sus relaciones con la totalidad social.
• Identificar a la educación como proceso y producto históricos, explicando sus relaciones entre el Estado y el fenómeno social de la educación.
• Explicar las corrientes teóricas sociológicas y antropológicas desde las perspectivas humanista, tecnográfico-economisista, funcionalista y marxista.
