This program accomodates students at all levels of Spanish language proficiency. Students are required to take two Intensive Spanish language courses and have the option to take up to three electives if scheduling permits. Students may take courses in a variety of subject areas including language, culture, and history. All classes are taught at the School for Foreign Students (EEE) at the University of Veracruz and will be taken with other international students. Classes are instructed by University of Veracruz professors.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

There is no language prerequisite for this program.

All students must take a Spanish language placement exam online before going to Xalapa. Upon arrival in Xalapa, students will take the oral portion of their placement exam. The exam will indicate each student’s language proficiency level and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.

Students who arrive in Xalapa having completed less than one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into the beginning-level courses. Students who arrive in Xalapa having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into the intermediate-level courses. Students who arrive in Xalapa having completed two years of college-level Spanish will likely place into the advanced-level courses.
