Cusco / Machu Picchu

Cusco, the ancient Inca capital.
Cusco, the ancient Inca capital.

Recently named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu is one of the most familiar symbols of the Inca Empire. ISA students will tour the sacred valley and take a backpacker's train to "The Lost City of the Incas". Cusco, the ancient Inca capital, connects visitors to Machu Picchu through the famous Inca Trail. Cusco is thought to have been founded around 1100 AD, and today, as the archaeological capital of Peru, it has developed into a major urban center that harmoniously integrates pre-Colombian monuments such as the Korikancha with mestizo architectural gems such as the Cusco Cathedral.
