Intermediate
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of two semesters (or three quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.
Advanced
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

FALL STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Objective

To introduce the student the principle characteristics and to the most outstanding protagonists of the present-day Spanish economy, to give them the clues to interpret the present-day socio-economic standing that can be found reflected through the Spanish communications media, by the means of continuing to advance through the course.

The state of the autonomy and their financing

WINTER STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Objective

The objective of this course is to introduce the student to the principle characteristics and the most prominent protagonists of the Spanish economy in the present and in retrospect to the last ten years, The principle objective is to give the student the keys to interpret the present Spanish economy, which will try to be followed constantly through the most significant news commentaries appearing in the press.

The Transition (1975-1982): the Pacts of the Moncloa
The PSOE years (1982-1996): reconversion, corruption, and “pelotazo”
The PP years (1996-2003): privatization and “deficit zero”
