Beginning

This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of two semesters (or three quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.
Advanced
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.
Superior
This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of 2 upper-division college-level Spanish courses. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

Este curso está fundamentalmente dedicado al análisis de las características básicas del sistema político español y su relación con la sociedad española actual. Tras una breve incursión en el pasado y su posible incidencia en el sistema actual (II República, Franquismo y la transición política) y un análisis de la estructura social de España, se pasará a debatir aspectos básicos del sistema político cómo las instituciones, la estructura del Estado, los partidos políticos, sistema de partidos, sindicatos y elecciones en España. En este curso también se hará un análisis de la cultura política, la participación, y el comportamiento electoral de los españoles, aspectos básicos para entender su relación con el poder político y la naturaleza de la nueva democracia española.
