This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of two semesters (or three quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of four semesters (or six quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

FALL STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Objective:

To give a view of Spanish art from the end of the XV Century up to the XVIII Century.

Architecture at the end of the XV Century: style of Catholic Kings
The First Renaissance: The Plateresque style
The Herreriana architecture
Renaissance sculpture
Painting of the Renaissance
The Golden Age and the Spanish arts: Architecture and the Baroque religious
imagery
The Great Painters: Ribera, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Murillo, Alonso Cano, Valdes Leal
Art of the XVIII Century: architecture, sculpture and painting

WINTER STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING COURSE DESCRIPTION:

To take a close look at Spanish art from the end of the XVIII century up to the XX century.
