Beginning level courses will focus solely on language acquisition while intermediate and advanced level courses include both grammar and culture courses. Students will be in class with American and other international students at the Menéndez Pelayo International University. Minimum Admissions Prerequisites For beginning, intermediate, and advanced level Spanish speakers. Students must have a 2.5 GPA. All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Barcelona. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Students who arrive in Spain having completed less than one year of college-level Spanish will likely place into beginning level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into the intermediate level courses.
