Housing Information

Homestay:
Homestays are the norm for Spain, and are encouraged by ISA. ISA participants living in homestays will be provided with three meals per day (except on ISA excursion days) and laundry service once per week for the official duration of the program. This is included in the ISA program cost. Students usually share a bedroom with another ISA student, but have the option of paying extra to secure an individual room.

Residencia:
A residencia is a Spanish boarding house typically run by a Spanish family or a senora and her staff. Spanish students attending the University of Granada typically make up the majority of the residencia population, but there may be other international students living there as well. Three meals are prepared per day, but meal service on Sundays will not be offered. Laundry service will be provided once per week. Students will either have their own small room or will share a room with another ISA student. Bathrooms are shared with many other students also living on the same floor. ISA does not recommend a residencia for students with a beginning Spanish language proficiency level. Space is very limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

ISA Apartment:
Apartments are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, and availability is limited. Rent is included in the program price. Students are placed in furnished, centrally-located apartments. All apartments are either within walking distance or conveniently located to public transit routes relative to the university. Meals and laundry service are not included. A $750 refundable apartment deposit is required.

Independent Housing:
Students may opt to secure housing independently. Students who select this option receive a discount equal to the housing portion (room, board and laundry) of the program price. By choosing to opt out of ISA housing, you are solely responsible for researching, reserving, and paying for all fees, deposits, and rent directly to the housing facility that you choose.
