Semester / Trimester

Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Hispanic Studies - University of Granada

This program offers Spanish language courses as well as a variety of Hispanic Studies courses at the advanced level. Students will take a minimum of four courses and a maximum of five courses. All classes are taken at the University of Granada with international students. However, students with a very high language level may be allowed to take up to two courses with Spaniards.

IMPORTANT: Enrollment in the Hispanic Studies semester program is strictly determined by the results of an on-site placement exam administered by the University of Granada. We strongly suggest that students whose home universities require them to place into Hispanic Studies sign up for Intensive Language month + Semester option (B programs for 2011, and A programs for 2012) so that, by taking a month-long intensive Spanish module before the start of semester classes, they may increase the likelihood of being eligible for the classes they need.

Intensive Spanish Language Trimester - University of Granada

The trimester program can accommodate students at beginning, high beginning, low intermediate, intermediate, high intermediate, advanced, high advanced, and superior Spanish language levels. The program consists of three Spanish language modules, each covering the skills of writing, reading, speaking and listening. All students are required to take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Granada. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the level of the first module in which the student is eligible to enroll. At the end of each module, students may advance to the next level, and will most likely complete 3 language levels (for example: low intermediate, intermediate, high intermediate) during the program. Please note, however, that level advancement is not automatic. Students will advance to the next level if their language acquisition skills demonstrate readiness and the CLM deems the advancement appropriate. All classes are with international students.

All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Granada. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.
