Beginning
There is no language prerequisite for courses at this language level. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

This course is designed to facilitate the knowledge of distinct aspects of the reality of Spanish culture and society, employing activities that will develop the students' vocabulary and will help them achieve a better comprehension of the Spanish language and will develop their written and verbal expression. The course will use various audiovisual materials such as photographs, videos, websites, etc.

PROGRAM

1. Notions of Spanish History: from Medieval Spain to present-day Spain

2. Notions of Spanish Art: painting, sculpture, architecture, etc.

3. Notions of Spanish Literature: several of the most well-known Spanish authors and works

4. Notions of Spanish Society: customs, cuisine, folklore, festivals, cinema, theater, etc.
