This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of two semesters (or three quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

Overview

OBJECTIVE:
Throughout this course, the most important literary movements of 20th century Spain will be examined and the most significant authors will be analyzed. Through readings, analysis and interpretation of fragments from the most significant works will be performed so that a more complete understanding of the literature may be attained.

BLOCK 1--Literary discussion. Commentary of the text. General vision of the history of Spanish literature: from the Jarchas to the 19th century.
