MálagaUniversities in MálagaUniversity of Málaga![]() The University of Malaga The University of Málaga (UMA) was founded in 1972 as a state institution under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and Science. Today the UMA has become the cultural center of the city with an annual enrollment of nearly 35,000 students. Because of the wide range of academic subjects offered, the University of Málaga attracts students from all over the world, including Asia, Europe, and the United States. The UMA's center for Cursos de Español para Extranjeros, located in central Málaga, offers courses in Spanish language and culture to foreign students. ISA students participating in the Intensive Spanish Language, Spanish Language and Culture, and Hispanic Studies programs will take courses on this campus with other American and international students. Students enrolled at this campus have full access to the facilities and resources available on the main UMA campuses (Teatinos and El Ejido) including WiFi, computer labs, libraries, athletic gym, and intramural sports. ISA Studies With Spaniards students attend classes located on the UMA's Teatinos Campus, which is located in the north-western part of the city, 15 minutes by bus from the ISA Office. The University places no more than 17 students in each class, however the number will vary according to the program in which you are enrolled. This young, but dynamic institution is dedicated to teaching, research, and to serving their students. The Spanish methodology is an adjustment that American students will need to make, so keep in mind that you need to have an open mind and will need to adapt to a new system. Our directors will be available to provide tutorial assistance on a daily basis for students who need additional help with their language classes. **There are limited computer facilities at the UMA's center for Cursos de Español para Extranjeros campus, therefore most students utilize the wireless and computer facilities available within the ISA Office, just a short walking distance from this campus.
