Region and Population

Salamanca (population 160,000) is the capital of the province of Salamanca, which borders four Spanish provinces and Portugal. The province of Salamanca lies on Spain's Northern Plateau.

Students make up about 25 percent of the city's population. The University of Salamanca attracts students from around the world. Salamanca is known for being devoted to university life, art and architecture, culture, entertainment, and leisure.

Climate

Salamanca has a mild climate, with cool winters and warm summers. The spring and fall are generally warm and sunny.
