The objective of this course is to study the artistic manifestations of the Renaissance in Spain from the end of the fifteenth century until the beginning of the seventeenth. Special attention is paid to architecture and sculpture and to a lesser extent painting. This course is divided along topics which include: The problem of architecture in Spain during the sixteenth century, patronship of the Mendozas, sculpture of the first third of the sixteenth century, Castillian sculpture: the Burgos school (Bigarny, Ordóñez, Siloé), the Palencia school (Valmaseda), Vasco de la Zarza, the Valladolid school (Berruguete, Juni, Bercerra), the Aragon school (Forment), sculpture in the last third of the sixteenth century, Briviesca, the Valladolid school (Esteban Jordán), Navarra (Anchieta), painting in the first half of the sixteenth century: Pedro Berruguete, Juan de Borgoña, Juan de Flandes, Alejo Fernández, El Greco.
