Overview

The objective of this course is the study of the evolution of the concepts and historical materialization in European society in the fifteenth through eighteenth centuries. Topics to be covered include: culture and mind frame in the Modern Age, social groups and cultural identity, culture of the elite and culture of the masses, the Renaissance, the Baroque time period, the Enlightenment, popular culture, cultural paths and tensions of the past, changes derived from the Reformation and Counter-reformation.
