The goal of this class is the presentation, analysis, and interpretation of both artistic categories, fundamental to the history of 20th century art. Themes to be looked at:
1. Realism and realism
2. Abstraction and its adjectival use.
3. Figurative art at the margin of the vanguards
4. The recuperation of the image of the 50's and 60's
5. Present and future of realist art.
6. Abstraction as an expression of inner necessity and image of vital experience.
7. Geometric abstraction and the search for universal harmonies.
8. The neo-concrete art and its autosignificant structures.
9. The subject as artistic support.
10. Conceptualism and its provcations.
