Fátima Alfonso Pinto

Resident Director in Salamanca, Spain

Fátima Alfonso Pinto is the Director of the International Studies Abroad program in Salamanca. She has been teaching Spanish and Portuguese courses since 1990. A former Erasmus scholar in France, she received her Licenciatura en Filología Hispánica from the University of Salamanca, Spain, and her Ph.D from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999. After being a Spanish instructor for the Cursos Internacionales at the University of Salamanca, she received the Excellence Teaching Award for the Spanish department at Austin in 1996 and later she became an Assistant Professor at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenneessee. She has presented several papers on Luso-Hispanic literature, has edited articles and books and has prepared an edition of a Medieval manuscript, published in London (1999). She is also the co-author of Punto y aparte: Spanish in Review, Moving Toward Fluency (1999), awarded First Edition of the Year by McGraw Hill Humanities and Social Sciences Division. Because Fátima has lived in different countries for many years, she understands our students´ needs and anxieties very well. She helps them to overcome any difficulty that may arise and take advantage of the wonderful experience of becoming part of another culture.
