Human Resources and Settlement in Latin America

This class will look at:
1. The population of Pre-columbian America: it's distribution, resources and exploitation of the environment.
2. The effects of colonization: mestizos and the exploitation of the environment. The migratory waves.
3. The demographic rise. Birth and death rate. Regional contrasts.
4. Distribution of the population. Internal migrations. Urban and rural populations.
5. The indigenous minorities: ethnic and socioeconomic problems.
6. Structural and economic characteristics of the modern Latin American population.
