Prior to enrolling in courses at this language level, students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of 2 upper-division college-level Spanish courses at their home university in the U.S.

This is a general course in linguistic theory that is divided along the following topics: theoretical and methodological principles, types and structures of sentences, classes of words and grammatical categories, syntactic functions and semantic roles, introduction to speech grammar.
